Loch Ness

Loch Ness is probably the most famous lake in the World. It extends over an area of almost 22 square miles and plunges to a depth of 754 feet! The loch contains the greatest amount of water (some 263 billion cubic feet) of any lake in Scotland.

It’s likely that you have heard of Loch Ness because of “Nessie”, the monster that it is claimed resides in the loch. It is said that St Columba came face to face with the monster in the 6 th century, however it was not until the road that hugs the western side of the loch (the one on which we shall travel) that sightings became fairly frequent. We recommend that you keep a close watch – you never know your luck!

We will drive the entire length of Loch Ness – all the way from Fort Augustus to Inverness. There will be a stop at Urquhart Castle so you can take photographs and enjoy the panoramic views over the loch. After a short break we will travel to the little village of Drumnadrochit where we will stop for lunch.
