The Forth Bridges

The Forth Bridges

On the final part of our journey to Edinburgh we will cross the River Forth by the spectacular Forth Road Bridge, which was opened by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II in 1964. When it opened it was the largest suspension bridge in Europe at over 1 ½ miles long.

As we cross the bridge look to the left and you will get an amazing view of the iconic Forth Railway Bridge. The world’s first major steel bridge, its gigantic girder spans 521 m. (1710 ft.) and is truly a great feat of engineering.
